What You’ll Experience

Day 1: The Sonic Experimentation Lab

Before we hit record, we take a deep dive into sound itself. This is your chance to not just use gear, but truly hear how different choices shape a recording—before the mix even begins.

• A/B test microphones, preamps, and gear to understand their tonal differences.
• Try out various recording approaches—ribbon vs. condenser mics, analog vs. digital, close vs. ambient mic placements.
• Learn how to shape a sound at the source rather than relying on mixing later.
• Discuss recording philosophy and creative decision-making.

🎚️ Day 2: Recording  – Bringing the Song to Life

Now that we’ve explored different sounds, it’s time to capture a real song, working with an artist or band. Today is all about intentional recording and creative production, blending technical precision with spontaneity.

• Hands-on recording in a world-class studio.
• Applying the techniques from Day 1 to make deliberate sound choices.
• Collaborating with musicians, engineers, and producers to shape the recording in real-time.
• Experimenting with overdubs, textures, and creative production techniques to enhance the song.
• By the end of the day, we’ll have a fully recorded track, ready for the next stage: mixing and finalizing the vision.

🎛️ Day 3: The Interactive Mix Lab – Shaping the Final Sound

Instead of just watching a mix happen, today is all about participation—everyone in the room gets to be part of the mixing process.

• Listening session: We start by analyzing the raw recording together—what works, what needs improvement?
• Comparing mix strategies: Subtle vs. bold processing, dry vs. ambient, warm vs. bright—how do different choices shape the final sound?
• Hands-on workflow exploration: Gain real-world insight into mixing approaches, problem-solving, and final polish.
• Q&A deep dive: Ask anything—this is where we break down real-world mixing challenges.
